PERFECT FIT
To be around people and part of the social fabric, is human nature. That need doesn’t change when you reach a certain age.

“It’s a bright life and a friendly life and I’m happy here.” – Bill Jensen, resident of Woodbury Mews

MEET BILL JENSEN, WHO’S ENJOYING THE VIEW FROM WOODBURY MEWS.
You can learn a lot from someone who has been in your shoes. Their honest insight can help you navigate your way to the place that’s right for you, regardless of which community you choose. (All quotes contained in this post are excerpts from an interview conducted with Bill Jensen on Monday, November 2nd, 2015. To read the full, un-edited transcript, please click here.)

Bill played football for the US Army and Temple University. He spent much of his professional life traveling for Gulf Oil as a labor expert, recruiting the best talent in the country. Of course, you may know him from his eight years serving as a Councilman of Woodbury Heights, or from his years of running the Senior Citizens Club at his church. At 85 today, Bill says he’s happy to spend part of life sitting on the front porch at Woodbury Mews sharing great stories and a cup of coffee with his buddies. His oldest son lives close by and in Bill’s words, treats him “like a king.”

HAPPY TIMES AHEAD
Hindsight, as the saying goes, is 20-20 and when it comes to moving to a retirement community, most residents will tell you they wish they’d started thinking about it much sooner than they did. If you haven’t started thinking about where you’d like to live your best future, there’s no time like the present to begin. Taking the time to explore your options fully today can only lead to brighter tomorrows, whatever your decision may be. “We were thinking about the possibility of one day putting the house up for sale and going into a manor sort of like this but the years kept going by and we just didn’t do it. But I was always aware of The Mews because as I said I had a friend who lived here and told me how marvelous it was for him.” – Bill Jensen

FILLING THE VOID
After losing Rosemary, his beloved wife of 63 years, Bill couldn’t imagine life in their house without her so he and his son started researching options. “And we went to Pitman Manor, we went to Brookdale, we went to Brightview. And I had a friend years ago who was here at The Mews. I said to Bill, ‘How about we take a run over to The Mews?’ Because none of the three really appealed to me. And when I got to The Mews I was amazed at the cleanliness when you walked in the door. Here all you see is bright lights and cleanliness. I love it. I love it dearly.” – Bill Jensen

SAY HELLO AND JOIN THE FUN
Bill moved to Woodbury Mews in May of 2014 and adjusted easily, thanks to friendly neighbors and a full calendar. Now he invites others to come say hello and join the fun. “I’ve made casino trips and I’ve made trips to some excellent restaurants that Angie picks out. We’ve gone to local theaters and saw some first rate films. We’ve been to ice cream parlors and from there to local parks. We went along the riverfront and sat there and watched the big boats go by. We really do some marvelous things here.” – Bill Jensen
